Structural Approval Engineer

Our client is looking to recruit additional Structural engineers in their offshore services department in Aberdeen to provide Design Assessment and Plan Approval Services. Our client’s current contract portfolio includes long term contracts with International Oil Companies, Drilling Rig owners and equipment vendors / manufactures.

Previous experience in any of the following technical areas is required:

Structural Design in particular of Offshore Structures.
Structural Design of Subsea Structures.
Design of Lifting devices & Offshore Containers.
Independent Competent Persons (ICP) activities according to the UK Offshore Safety Case Regulations.
Have an understanding of FEA and be capable of using FEA analysis tools.
Have an understanding of Dynamic Loads on offshore structures.
Be familiar with Structural Codes and standards e.g. AISC, Euro Code 3, BS5950 and/or DNV Offshore Standards.

Responsibilities
You will be part of a team of multi-discipline Engineers with the following duties and responsibilities:

Carry out plan approval, design review and verification of offshore (primarily steel) structures, such as Containers, Modules, Lifting Appliances, A Frames, Towers and Steel Jackets, etc.
Project management and Customer interaction (to a level dependent on previous experience).
Provide professional guidance, mentoring and support to less experienced Engineers. Verify and check the work of other Engineers as applicable.
Ensure that all project deliverables such as reports, certificates and contractual agreements are submitted in accordance with our client and their respective client expectations.
Ensure Project Management procedures are adhered too. Ensure that projects are priced correctly are well managed and that they achieve target returns.
There may be a requirement to carry out occasional surveys of Offshore Structures, both onshore & offshore.

Qualifications
Your education, skills and experience will include, but may not be limited to:

Relevant Engineering Degree.
Alternatively, we will consider favourably lesser qualified engineers who can clearly demonstrate practical experience.
Relevant post-graduate experience preferred although not essential.
