Site Manager

Job Description Safety 
  • As the Person In Charge he has responsibility for the safety and welfare of all personnel onboard, for the safety, watertight integrity and seaworthiness of the drilling rig and for the protection of environment during the operations carried out on board the unit. 
  • Manage the rig's emergency response team and consults with the Senior Tool pushers, Technical Coordinator, Barge Master, and Client's Representative if the safety of the rig or personnel is threatened. 
  • Manage the response to any emergency situation and shutdown rig operation as deemed necessary. 
  • Promote safety and company policies as line management responsibilities. 
  • Report potential hazards to line supervisor. 
  • Demonstrate commitment to the Company safety policies by frequent discussions, review, consultations and audits made on the unit. 
  • Select appropriate standards, specifications and safe working procedures including drills and incorporate these in the operational procedures of the rig. 
  • Monitor adherence to standards, specifications and procedures and review performances of department staff. 
  • Ensure that staff are provided with sufficient resources and training to achieve their safety objectives. 
  • Attend pre-tour and weekly safety meetings with all personnel and may attend at his discretion any regular department safety meeting. 
  • Ensure that incidents causing harm or damages to personnel, to the environment or to equipment are properly investigated using formalized, systematic procedures and that effective measures are taken to prevent any recurrence. 
  • Implement and monitor the effective execution of the Safety Training Observation Program (STOP). 
  • Review or develop and implement Job Safety Analysis (JSA), risk assessments and Permit to Work (PTW); ensure they have been completed as required for all tasks and that they are accurate, complete, and effectively implemented. 
  • Manage the development, coordination, documentation, training, and testing of emergency preparedness plans and procedures. 
  • Ensure emergency preparedness drills and exercises are performed as scheduled, with good results, and are properly documented. 
  • Ensure that specific crews are designated and trained for emergencies according to the rig station bill. 
  • Monitor the effectiveness and make recommendations for improving the Company Quality Safety Management System (QSMS) 
  • Know the company and the client's rules to control a kick. 
  • Responsible to follow proper procedure on suspension of drilling operation and securing of the well in case of an emergency. 
  • Ensure all non-conformities, defects, accidents, incidents, hazardous situations and cases of ill health are fully documented and correctly reported to the Designated Person(s) Ashore. 
  • Ensure Lifesaving, fire fighting, emergency and safety drills are conducted in accordance with the recommendations of SOLAS 1974 Chapter III and Company or Contractor requirements. 
  • Ensure that all safety training, inspections and maintenance requirements comply with the provisions of the STCW95 Code and SOLAS Chapter III Reg. 19.7 & 52. 
  • Verify that the ship's communication equipment is maintained and operated in accordance with the Statutory Regulations. 
Operations 
  • Keep the Rig Performance Manager informed of the state of the drill plant and the well, potential hazards, malfunction of equipment and actions taken. In general ensure effective communication with shore-based support personnel. 
  • Plan and supervise the work to be done by his direct reports. 
  • Supervise all the reports done by his direct reports and by the Company sub contractors. 
  • Supervise the implementation of the Company's procedures, standards and specifications. 
  • Monitor performance of drilling operations to ensure safe proceedings according to customer requirements, and in an optimally efficient manner. 
  • Supervise the entire drilling program. 
  • Review and sign the Rimdrill IADC drilling report and the Official Daily Statement and all attachments & reports requested by the Company and the Client. 
  • As PIC, Issue documented instructions, as required, in the form of Standing orders, Night orders and special orders. The orders that he issues, whether written or verbal should be able to withstand scrutiny and should be in compliance with the Company's objectives in respect to safety, environmental protection and drilling operations. 
  • Ensure that the preventive maintenance is properly followed in the different departments and coordinate the repairs or the maintenance to minimize the down time in cooperation with the Technical Coordinator and the Rig Asset Manager. 
  • Ensure that all inspections are properly conducted. 
  • Review monthly inventory reports to ensure adequate supplies for the rig and crew. 
Client relationship 
  • Inform the client representative about the operations and the problems encountered. 
  • Maintain a good and fair working relationship with the Client representative and his third parties subcontractors. 
  • Work with the Client representative to have all third parties on board working under the Company operating rules and regulations. 
  • Participate in the client pre-spud meetings, operational exercises (DWOP, Technical Limits) and drills. 
Personnel
  • Provide input and recommendations for the hiring, transfers, promotions, and terminations of rig personnel. 
  • Ensure the roles, responsibilities, accountabilities, and performance measures of direct reports are defined, understood, and enforced. 
  • Monitor the performance of direct reports and perform annual appraisal. 
  • Assess the competencies of direct reports. Coach, mentor, and work with them to enhance required competencies. 
  • Establish goals and priorities with direct reports. 
  • Oversee that all rig personnel are trained and certified for their particular job according to the Company Safety Training Matrix, as well as all regulatory, statutory, and client requirements before performing the job. 
  • Verify and check the validity of certificates and master documents; ensure all training and certificates are up-to-date. 
  • Ensure that all new personnel receive an offshore safety induction. 
  • Oversee that all subcontractors are qualified for the job they will perform prior to starting work. 
  • Review and authorize work permits. 
  • Ensure training responsibilities of rig supervision are effectively discharged; request additional training programs as needed. 
  • Interface between shore base and crew regarding personnel issues, problems, and queries. 
  • Review time sheets for the rig staff. 
  • Manage conflicts among crew and supervision. 
General Management 
  • Provide input to the annual plan and budget; monitor budget to ensure cost effective operations; review and approve all rig expenses 
  • Provide required financial and operational reports and forecasts. 
  • Review performance against unit measures; establish initiatives with the team to achieve goals and objectives. 
  • Develop and implement mechanisms to achieve effective communication, coordination of effort, information flow, and learning with direct reports. Ensure a high level of productivity, teamwork, and employee satisfaction among the rig crew. 
  • Ensure rig supervisors are informed of any operational, maintenance, environmental, health, safety, and training, and quality issues, work with the team or individual supervisors to develop and implement effective solutions. 
Qualifications
Education:
  • High school diploma or educational equivalent as minimum. 
  • BS or Engineer degree preferred. 
Professional Experience and Skills:
  • 5 years experience, including 2 years as Operation Engineer, Barge Captain or Senior Toolpusher on a MODU needed. 
  • Supervisory experience is necessary. 
  • English speaker is needed. Bi-lingual is preferred (English, Spanish, French, Portuguese). 
  • Verbal communication skills necessary. 
  • Ability to interact with individuals in a cross-cultural environment.

Sr. Subsea Engineer

Job Description:
Subsea Operations
  • The Sr. Subsea Engineer is the specialist on board a floating drilling vessel who is responsible for the performance of all marine related subsea and surface well control equipment on his rig. His background is normally mechanical and/or hydraulic. For MUX rigs an electrical background is acceptable. 
  • Normally has a minimum of two years experience as a Subsea Engineer. 
  • He is capable of fully understanding, operating, maintaining and troubleshooting all aspects of the BOP control system, including at least the basics of the electrical components. 
  • Ensures that all components of the BOP Stack Assembly and Marine Riser System have been thoroughly cleaned, inspected, serviced, repaired and tested as required before use. 
  • Ensures that all well control or marine related subsea and surface support equipment such as running, retrieving and testing tools, subsea TV system and any other equipment associated with the subsea stack and surface well control equipment have been thoroughly inspected, serviced, repaired, function and/or pressure tested as applicable before running or connecting. 
  • Troubleshoots as necessary all subsea and surface equipment operating problems and advises the Rig Superintendent, and/or Chief Engineer/TC, on the safest and most efficient means of solving the problem. 
  • Witnesses all pressure tests and latch up and weight set tests on subsea and/or completion equipment to ensure that all tests are safely carried out within the limitations of the equipment being tested or connected. 
  • Is responsible for ensuring that the entire riser tensioning system is thoroughly inspected, serviced, repaired and tested before use and also that the pressures in use are applicable to the current well and situation. 
  • Is responsible for providing Houston, in a timely manner, with sufficient details to carry out a riser analysis for each well, and then following the results of that analysis for that well. 
  • Troubleshoots, as necessary, any operating problems with the Compensator systems and ensures that all maintenance procedures are properly carried out as and when they are due. 
  • Maintains the internal / external preservation, lubrication, appearance and records of all subsea equipment that is in surface storage and not in use. 
  • Maintains up to date files of all the applicable subsea and surface equipment that he is responsible for which includes, but is not limited to, blueprints, drawings, dimensions, specifications, catalogues, spare part booklets, plus pertinent measurements of subsea equipment in all assembled and or operating positions. 
  • Carries out, or witnesses, measurements of operator provided subsea equipment in a timely manner before running to ensure that it is compatible with the other equipment that it is to be fitted to, joined with or run with and advises the rig superintendent of any complications that might occur with using the equipment. 
  • Advises and recommends on the minimum and maximum spare part stock levels for all of his equipment and assists the storekeeper with the ordering and safe storage of such replacement parts. 
  • Monitors the inventory of all subsea critical spare parts together with all oils, fluids and gasses required for subsea operations. 
  • Maintains an up to date knowledge of the latest innovations and techniques in subsea equipment usage and appraises the rig superintendent and the subsea superintendent of any findings which may benefit our operations. 
  • Maintains accurate maintenance and repair history files for all of his equipment in Maximo, together with a daily log of all observations regarding the operation of the subsea department so that his colleagues can benefit from his experiences. 
  • Provides proper instruction to the Subsea Engineers and Trainee Subsea Engineers as is appropriate to extend their knowledge and usefulness. 
Safety 
  • Participates in the Safety Training Observation Program (S.T.O.P) and weekly safety and operational meetings. 
  • Develops and implements Job Safety Analyses and prepares risk assessments as required. 
  • Reports all hazards and communicates ideas for enhancing safety standards. 
  • Performs all duties in accordance with the Permit to Work System. 
Other
  • Acts as a member of an emergency team in the event of a fire or other emergency; participates in meetings and drills as a member of an emergency team. 
  • Performs other duties and special projects as requested by management. 
Qualifications Education: 
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or educational equivalent from an accredited technical school, trade school, or institute is preferred. 

Professional Experience and skills:
  • Must have 3 or more years experience as a Subsea Engineer.
