Principal Offshore Class Surveyor

Our client is looking to recruit additional Principal Offshore Class Surveyor to provide Classification & Statutory Certification services. Candidates will also be expected to undertake UK Safety Case Verification Activities.
Our client’s current contract portfolio includes long term contracts with International Oil Companies, Drilling Rig owners, Ship Owners and equipment vendors / manufactures. Most of the activities undertaken will relate to in-service surveys, however some minor vessel conversion work will be expected. Opportunities for site / offshore will also be expected, both in the UK & abroad.

Previous experience and knowledge of Ship Rules & Offshore Codes / Standards is required, as would specific experience in any of the following technical areas:


  • Drilling Semi-Subs, Drill Ships, Jack –ups 
  • FPSO’s
  • Drilling & Well Control
  • Independent Competent Persons (ICP) activities according to the UK Offshore Safety Case Regulations
  • Floating Offshore Installations – Design, Construction, Hook-up and Commissioning.


Responsibilities
You will be part of a team of multi-discipline Engineers with the following duties and responsibilities:


  • Act as Rig Coordinator for International customers.
  • UK safety Case Verification activities.
  • Classification /Statutory Certification Surveys and Assessments.
  • Project management and Customer interaction (to a level dependent on previous experience). 
  • Provide professional guidance, mentoring and support to less experienced. Verify and check the work of other Engineers as applicable.
  • Ensure that all project deliverables such as reports, certificates and contractual agreements are submitted in accordance with our client and their respective client expectations.
  • Ensure Project Management procedures and adhered too. Ensure that projects are priced correctly are well managed and that they achieve target returns.
  • There will be a requirement to carry out occasional surveys of Offshore Installations.
  • Assist with routine Ship surveys.


Qualifications
Your education, skills and experience will include, but may not be limited to:

• Relevant Engineering Degree or Formal Marine Qualification – i.e. Chief Engineer / Chief Officer.
• Relevant post education experience (10 years +).
