The Subsea Engineer is the specialist on board a floating drilling vessel who assists the senior Subsea engineer in his duties.
Job Description
- A mechanical and/or hydraulic background. For MUX rigs an electrical background is acceptable.
- Completed a recognized training program, in addition to attending the recommended courses.
- Must be capable of fully understanding, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting all aspects of the BOP control system, including at least the basics of the electrical components.
- The position starts at grade I and progresses through grade II and ultimately to grade III subject to time on the job and evaluations from supervisors.
- Develops and implements Job Safety Analyses and prepares risk assessments as required.
- Reports all hazards and communicates ideas for enhancing safety standards.
- Performs all duties in accordance with the Permit to Work System.
- Acts as a member of an emergency team in the event of a fire or other emergency; participates in meetings and drills as a member of an emergency team.
- Performs other dutiesand special projects as requested by management
Education:
- High school diploma or educational equivalent is preferred.
- Certification from an accredited technical school, trade school, or institute in Fluid Power and/or Electronic Control Systems or practical experience in a job classification working with electro/hydraulic control systems is preferred.
1 to 2 years experience as an Assistant Subsea Engineer/Trainee preferred.
- Bi-lingual is preferred (English, Spanish, French, Portuguese)
- Verbal communication skills necessary.Ability to interact with individuals in a cross-cultural environment.
- Team oriented.
Licenses, Certifications, Credentials, and Other Requirements:
- Offshore survival and medical certificates as mandated by government regulations are required.
- Certified in all required safety training programs, including but not limited to underwater safety, fire fighting, and helicopter underwater escape.
- Must pass pre-employment and random drug tests.
