- Assists in reviewing production records, logs, reports, files, and other documentation to monitor effective drilling operations; identifies technical drilling issues and makes recommendations to resolve issues.
- Monitors drilling operations as directed to ensure that equipment and facilities are properly maintained and in compliance with all company standards, regulatory, statutory and client requirements.
- Assists in performing engineering acceptance inspections for all drilling equipment modifications.
- Identifies and makes recommendations to resolve technical drilling issues and recommends improvements to drilling techniques and procedures; bases recommendations on proven best practices integrated with new technology as appropriate.
- Establishes working relationship with the customers' representatives on matters related to the successful completion of their drilling program.
- Acquires knowledge of applicable government regulations that impact drilling operations to ensure necessary compliance.
- Provides troubleshooting support for drilling operations.
- Participates in the Safety Training Observation Program (S.T.O.P) and weekly and pre-tour safety meetings.
- Conducts and documents area inspections and audits as assigned; follows safe practices and takes corrective action on all hazards.
- Helps develop and implement Job Safety Analyses and prepares risk assessments.
- Performs all duties in accordance with the Permit to Work System.
- Acts as a member of the Operations Team in the event of a fire, well control emergency, or other emergency; participates in drills and exercises as a member of an emergency team.
- Monitors and evaluates vendor product quality and recommends improvements as needed
- Performs other duties and special projects as requested by management.
Education:
- Degree or formal educational experience in mechanical or petroleum engineering is preferred.
- Must have a minimum of 1 years of experience in drilling operations.
- Knowledge of pertinent regulatory requirements in assigned regions is preferred.
- Bi-lingual is preferred (English, Spanish, French, Portuguese)
- Verbal communication skills necessary.
- Ability to interact with individuals in a cross-cultural environment.
- Team oriented.
- Offshore survival and medical certificates as mandated by government regulations are required.
- Certified in all required safety training programs, including but not limited to underwater safety, fire fighting, and helicopter underwater escape.
- Must pass pre-employment and random drug tests.
