Head of Section for Classification Services

Our Client is seeking Head of section for classification Services within the Aberdeen Offshore Services department.
As Head of Section, you will report to the Head of Department, and be part of the wider UK & Global Classification Network, through both operations and business development. Your section currently consists of 25 persons, and you will be directly supported by 2 Lead Surveyors (one responsible for Offshore Class, the other Ships in Operation).
This is a critical role for our client and will require solutions based approach in order to assist our customers with their operational challenges, within the terms of reference of our contractual obligations.
Primary Responsibilities:-
  • Full line management responsibility for all section staff, with support from the Lead Surveyors
  • Full operational responsibility, both from a quality, technical and financial perspective.
  • Plan and execute Customer Service activities (as supported by designated CSM’s) towards local customers including meetings, feedback sessions, facilitating and providing client seminars and courses.
  • Develop relationships with our local and international customers to help ensure class retention and lead to class transfer to our client.
  • For Offshore Customers, ensure a holistic Class/UK safety Case Verification service.
 Additional Responsibilities:-
  • Support the training and development of junior surveyors.
  • Support Advisory Services to our clients with regard to regulatory compliance and safety management.
Qualifications
  • Technical education to degree level or equivalent, in a relevant Marine or Engineering discipline.
  • Excellent theoretical knowledge and practical experience of Classification and Statutory services relating to SIO and MOUiO.
  • Experience in, and the ability to, communicate effectively at all levels throughout our customer’s organisation.
  • Valid SIO/ MOUiO VQSC for Survey
